At the beginning of July, Collectrical CIC began to sponsor two young children from Tanzania.14 year old Grace Martin and 9 year old Irine Atanasi. This has had some huge benefits not only to the girls, but their whole village. Initially Grace Martin was being sold as a child bride. This is commonplace in Africa, however with the help of world vision, sponsorship saves these children.

About Irine

I live in United Republic of Tanzania, with my mother. I have 1 sister. My mother is a farmer. At home I have chores to complete like washing the dishes. When I have free time I really love playing with dolls. Children in Irine Atanasi’s community areprotected, cared for and involved…

More girls and boys feel cared for in Irine Atanasi’s community in Kilimatinde. In total, 45 community action teams educated the community on the need to address marriage laws, gender inequality and child participation. Also, 15 community leaders included child-friendly spaces for children’s activities in the community land plans.

For Christmas Collectrical bought the girls a goat each and we received a card from the girls explaining how much this simple act has changed the lives of the village. As a bonus they both have a fur baby to cuddle.
